Ok, im a sucker for being cheap. I go to the local BJ’s and find a decently priced /looking computer. Bring it home to find that playing online games is a pain in the a**. The specs for the model are:

NVIDIA® GeForce® 7050
3GB DDR2
500GB hard drive
16x DVD±R/RW SuperMulti drive
Multi-in-one digital media card reader
Integrated NVIDIA® GeForce® 7050 graphics
8-channel (7.1) high-definition audio support
10/100 Fast Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 port)
6 – USB 2.0 (2 front, 4 rear)
2 – PS/2 (keyboard and mouse)
1 – VGA
1 – High-definition headphone jack
1 – Microphone jack
6 – Audio ports
1 – RJ-45 Ethernet
Dimensions: 14.2″ H x 7.1″ W x 16.2″ D
18 lbs. (system unit only)
Software:
Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Microsoft® Works
Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2007 Trial7
Norton Internet Security™ 2009 Trial8
Norton™ Online Backup (30-day Trial)9
eMachines® Recovery Management
Adobe® Flash® Player
Adobe® Reader®

Im wanting to put in a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor, EVGA GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB 192-bit DDR2, Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W ATX12V V2.2 Intel Core i7 Compliant Dual 80mm Fans Full Cable Sleevings Power Supply(both the PSU and G Card come as a bundle), and taking out the 1gb ram and placing in another 2gb to max out the 4gb it can take.

Now i wasn’t sure if i would be able to place the items in question into the system without damaging anything to having it not work and wasting $300. I’m very new to changing out parts and what not but i would like to have bette performance with online games since i’ve recently become addicted to world of warcrack er craft haha.

    1. you can definitely swap out the psu
    2. keep the 3gb ram the 4gb will not make much difference
    3. you need to make sure you have the PCIE slot avail before you get any vid card – if so get the 4850 for 100.00 at newegg.com
    4. not sure if that cpu will work as you’ll need one with an 800fsb like the E5500 or any of the 5000 series dual cores

  1. No trackbacks yet.
