File system of every computer contains a number of system files, which are used to carry out a number of operations. Each system file in the file system has equal importance and their proper functioning is required for the file system to work. The NTFS (New Technology File System) file system includes a number of system files that are stored in hidden mode. In case, any of the system files gets damaged or corrupted, hard drive volume becomes inaccessible and you encounter data loss situations. At this point, you need to opt for NTFS Data Recovery solutions to get your valuable data back.

The system files are used by the NTFS file system for storing the file system metadata and for implementing the file system. NTFS system files are put on Windows hard drive volume through Format utility. NTFS file system includes the following significant system files:

Master File Table- It contains a base file record for every file/folder on NTFS volume. If allocation information for file/folder is so large that can not fit in single record, new file records are also allocated.

Master File Table 2- It is a duplicate copy of initial four records of MFT.

Log File- Stores details of the transaction steps, which are used to recover NTFS file system. This file is used for restoring consistency to the NTFS in case of system failure.

Volume- Holds volume information, such as volume version, volume label, and volume size.

Attribute Definitions- Table of the attribute names, descriptions, and numbers.

Boot Sector- Contains BPB, which is used for mounting NTFS volume. Also includes additional bootstrap loader code if volume is bootable.

NTFS Extension File- It is used for several optional extensions like quotas, object identifiers, and reparse point data.

If any of these files are damaged or missing due to file system corruption, operating system malfunction, virus infection, or improper system shutdown, data loss occurs. In such circumstances, NTFS Partition Recovery applications are required to retrieve lost data.

NTFS File Recovery software are particularly designed to carry out thorough scan of the entire hard drive volume and to extract all lost data from it. These software enable you to perform NTFS Data Recovery on your own, as they have simple and rich graphical user interface.

Data Recovery Software is the most advanced tool for assured recovery of lost Windows data. It recovers NTFS5, NTFS, VFAT, FAT32, and FAT16 file system volumes. The software works well with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/How to handle Inaccessible File Recovery in NTFS file system

NTFS is the most entrusted file system for Windows today. With the ability to handle multiple file attributes, such as name of file, data, security descriptor, reparse points, volume name, volume information, bitmap, apart from standard informations, and more, the NTFS file system is found on almost all PCs, and Windows XP, Vista, and 7 based computers can operate only on this file system platform. Despite the steadiness and speed that this file system extends, it is still vulnerable to some problems which may lead to data loss, thus calling for extensive NTFS file recovery.

Consider, you have a 2TB extra hard drive exclusively for saving files on your Windows XP system. And one fine day, you find the free disk space in that drive has increased majorly, from 400 GB to approx. 1.4 TB. And when you check the recycle bin, there is no trace of any deleted files. And you are left wondering if somebody tampered with your system, or something? Or, was there some undetected virus attack? Or, did the files vanish in thin air? And certainly the files were not having hidden attribute, as the empty space had increased. But what was queer was the files that had gone missing had first character from ‘a’ to ‘p’ and from ‘0′ to ‘9′, irrespective of what file format they have. In such a situation, you can use the backup of the drive, or if you had cloned or imaged the NTFS file system, then use that clone or image to perform NTFS partition recovery on another drive.

But hey, if you didn’t take backups, then it is a cause of worry for you, unless you have a NTFS file recovery software, to effectively recover your data. These are some reliable software that perform recovery of deleted data, by applying complex algorithms to the drive, or partition that has been selected. With the ability to perform different kinds of recovery, these tools are a sure shot way to get back all your inaccessible data, irrespective of the reason for its loss. It certainly could have been deleted by somebody accidentally, or intentionally tampered with, or due to a virus attack, but these reliable NTFS Data Recovery software recover all that and even those files which had been deleted by you previously.

Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery software is a must have for all your data recovery needs. With the ability to perform NTFS partition recovery for deleted partition, coupled with features like cloning or imaging a hard drive, this NTFS Data Recovery tool is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.

One morning you open your system to find that your valuable data is no longer accessible. You spend an hour trying to find a solution, but nothing works. You try to analyze the various causes for the loss of data. Data could have been lost due to a variety of reasons. It could have been virus infection your anti-virus had detected the other day, or a system malfunction or a boot sector corruption or even a partition corruption. Fortunately, even if you have lost your valuable data, you can recover it using third-party partition recovery software such as a good NTFS partition recovery solution.

Is formatting the only solution to recover corrupt NTFS partition?

You either plan to format your system in an attempt to recover your system’s corrupt NTFS partition or think of other options. In both cases, it would be better to make a decision based on the importance of the data lying in your corrupted partition. Does it contain precious photographs of you with your family and friends? Does it contain all those important office documents? Does it contain the important backup you had taken of your work the other day which is yet to be reviewed by your peers and superiors? The reason these questions are being raised is because you need to know that formatting your system does not retain any data, though it successfully recovers or helps you create new NTFS partitions. Effectively, it gives you a new start.

But wait!!

What about the data that was saved on your system?

All those crucial files, and the presentations made last week, and what about that all important spreadsheet that had been finally compiled just yesterday? What you need to decide is whether you can afford to lose your data, or whether you really need that data back.

Why fret when a feasible solution is at hand?
Don’t worry!!
There are various third-party NTFS Data recovery, raid recovery solutions at hand. Most of them are successful when recovering critical data. Naturally, you need to choose a reliable software solution.
