Acne can be devastating to teenagers and all others alike both physically and emotionally. But teens are obviously in a very sensitive period of their lives. Often times, people that develop acne can suffer from various problems. A feeling of being inadequate and feeling generally insecure about themselves are definite end results. Moderate forms of acne are tolerable, but extreme cases can be debilitating at best. In these situations, the pimples can be very deep within the skin. When that happens, the surrounding nerves can cause extreme pain if the area is touched or pressure applied. Although you do not want to do this, many will squeeze the acne to try to get rid of it. In actuality, that is the worst thing that anyone can do because it can make it worse and lead to scarring.

There is also a good reason behind the warning not to squeeze your pimples. Are you one of those people who are constantly picking at your pimples? If so, the odds that you will end up with scarring are increased. You know without a doubt that if you have scars, you have damage to your skin. It is especially undesired to squeeze so much that it bleeds. The reason you must be careful when you squeeze is to avoid the possibility of causing scarring and unsightly enlarged pores. You can very gently squeeze if the blemish is very near the surface. To make it easier and more successful to squeeze your pimple, soften it with some warm water on a washcloth to both cleanse and warm the area. Make sure you don’t use hot water. Don’t overdo it when you have warmed up the area and are ready to squeeze the pimple. Be very gentle. If you squeeze too hard in an attempt to get out all the pus, you can potentially damage your skin. Acne causes physical scarring, without a doubt, but it also causes other scarring as well. As an example, a lot of negative emotions can surface in someone with acne and one of the most prevalent is a feeling of humiliation. Teen-agers can be thoughtless sometimes and humiliate another student who has acne. This just makes the situation more difficult for the acne sufferer. Self-esteem can suffer in a person who has acne and, of course, lower self-esteem only leads to other emotional problems. Studies have shown that there is increased risk that a victim of acne can suffer from depression and suicide. The best course of action is when acne first begins to form. A visit to your dermatologist can usually stop acne in its tracks.

The best way to take care of your skin is to use a very gentle cleanser and something to exfoliate dead skin on the surface. The reason you want to exfoliate is that the dead skin cells will actually mix with the sebum in your pores causing blockage. To keep your skin clear for long periods of time, doing this regimen on a moderate basis is the key.

Never use any one product in excess, especially when it comes to scrubbing and exfoliating. Doing this would be called improper skin care which can cause a great deal of damage. The regimen that you set up to take care of your skin will either help it or hurt it in the long run. Having the acne was bad enough, but the presence of scars can be just as anguishing and emotional. It’s fortunate, nevertheless, that there are products that can remove the scarring from your skin. There are outstanding oils that have been developed to remove your scars with good results. If you do a Google search for these oils, you can check out the different products.
